About "Chan-hna"


 Chan-hna,also known as”Silk-Wrapped Flowers”is an ancient yet exquisite Traditional Taiwanese art craft.



-----It uses silk threads wrapping around paper patterns then composing them into elegant flowers.The surface of the art craft gives a lustrous glow making a difference to modern days accessories.The exquisite refinement in”Chan-hua”catches your attention right after encountering it.Making you fall in love with its unique qualities.

In the early days,most Hakka families lived in poverty. Making the women to learn farming,mastering different artcrafts and having skilled artistry since childhood.This virtue was taught to every little girl.
Each piece of the silk-wrapped paper must be smooth and giving the lustrous glow. This shows the determination and dexterous hands as well as representing female virtues.Chan-hua is also one of the essential dowry of northern Hakka girls.
As time passes,the thrive of industrial revolution has demanded time efficiency.And due to the negligence of preserving the traditional artcraft.The art of making “Chan-hua”was almost lost.
The main purpose and goals of Shin Yu-Chieh threading art work shop is to continue the inheritance of triditional dowry,And combining the art with metallic wires along with modern elements to meet the new generations tastes.
Hoping to pass down this fine art and to awaken the simple yet hardworking nature of our ancestors.
